Irish tax calculator FAQs

How do you calculate Irish take-home pay?

We apply Irish PAYE, USC and PRSI for the tax year you pick (2022–2026). Income tax uses that year's standard-rate band and personal plus PAYE credits. USC and PRSI use that year's bands and rates. Pension contributions reduce income tax, not USC or PRSI.

Can I choose different tax years?

Yes. The calculator covers 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. Take-home uses that year's rates. A PAYE refund estimate is for the year you select only.

What does the PAYE refund estimate include?

It only adds extras payroll often misses, such as flat-rate expenses, the rent tax credit, medical expenses at 20%, working-from-home relief, and emergency tax. It is one year and an estimate. Revenue confirms the amount.

Is this the same as my payslip?

It is an estimate for a PAYE employee. It does not include every item on a Tax Credit Certificate, such as benefit-in-kind or a second job.

What happens if I start a claim?

Your calculator answers are carried into the application. We still review the last four completed tax years. No refund, no fee.
